My first android game - Tetricorn
My first android app is Tetricorn, a game that I wrote couple of years ago and now ported to android. The game is a hybrid between tetris and break out. The controls are a little bit complicated, but I think the final version was relatively easy to play.
After short registration I uploaded my new game to google play market, sat back, relax and waited for all the users that will come to download my new game. The long story short – that never happen! There are very few people that downloaded my game, and for the most of them the game was to hard. After more than a month now there are around 170 total downloads and only 65 active installs. I uploaded Tetricorn to some other android markets. Some of them had better performance than play store, but at the end Tetricorn wasn’t the success I was hoped for.
Conclusion:
The game is to hard. The most people are getting fast frustrated and uninstall it. The other problem is visibility, some description optimization helps, especially the words in the game name.
I personally like the game. Unfortunately the other people have different opinion on that matter. Nonetheless there are some lessons I learned for my next game :). Some of them are:
- The game must be easy to play (one or two buttons?)
- More handling, less thinking
- Shorter development == simpler games – at least until I know better what exactly is working well for the popularity of an app.
Whit this in mind I created my next game Moon Racer.
