What is it to come
Not much, I am going on vacation in July, so I don’t think I will have any time to work on my projects.
Conclusion
In the today overcrowded mobile apps market good marketing techniques are now more important then ever. Just developing a new app and letting it grow on its own in the market isn’t an option anymore. Before starting a new project I will need to invest time and money in a comprehensive marketing strategy and a market analysis!
Well this is certainly discouraging. Did your downloads also drop? Was the trend evident on both Android and iOS? Do you have an idea why some apps had a much bigger drop than others?
My downloads went down maybe 50% since mid-June, I have no idea why.
I can’t say much about the iOS store, I have only two apps there with less than 15 downloads a day for both of them.
Generally I expect the downloads to drop in the summer and to get up again in the fall. I must also admit that the drop this year is bigger and that it is getting harder to succeed in the mobile market. Until now I never did real marketing for my apps. All I did is just a little ASO and the apps eventually got inertia on their own. I don’t think that this can really work anymore. That’s why I am overthinking my whole marketing strategy. If I want to stay and grow in the mobile market I must learn how to do real marketing and that’s what I am focusing now on!
